Q: Hey Kevin! it's me, a prospective student and/or their parents, do you have a second to answer some questions?
A: Of course, anytime!
Q: I hear you offer private guitar lessons, what exactly are private guitar lessons?
A: a private guitar lesson is a one-on-one meeting between you (student) and Kevin (teacher). In this low pressure, light-hearted atmosphere, you will work together with Me to reach and eventually exceed your musical goals
Q: You say low- pressure, just how low pressure are we talking here?
A: I understand that every student is different and every student has different periods of free time. You will not have a practice chart where you must fill out what you practiced every day (completely honestly as well!). We work together to find suitable to times to practice with some great material that will hopefully make practicing easier!
Q:There it is...that P word, PRACTICE! How bad is it?
- it's not as scary as it sounds, and most of the time, it can be fun! While you will need to put in time at home, I will work with you to give you a reasonable workload in harmony with your musical goals
Q: Did you use the word harmony in the last answer as a subtle musician's joke?
A: not so subtle...but yes! :)
Q: What will I learn in these awesome guitar lessons?
A: You will learn a combination of what you want to learn, and what I think is important. I think learning what each of the notes on the guitar, keeping a steady beat, and reading music notation (it's not scary, promise!) is important. I always love listening to great new music from all styles, old-school to top 40 hits from today. I believe we can get a nice balance between the two! We will learn some of what I think is important, along with anything you want to!
Q: even Free Bird or Stairway to Heaven?
A: of course!
Q: how long as these sweet lessons?
A: Typical lessons are usually 30 minutes once a week. A student may do hour lessons if they are serious about working hard, kicking tail, and learning that guitar!
Q: Ok, I'm intrigued...but what about sports or the other things I have going on? Can I be the next Lebron James in my sport AND still take lessons?
A: My philosophy is that no student will be turned away, no schedule is too busy, and we are completely flexible! If there's a will, I will find a way!
Q: This all sounds great, but this must be very expensive, private lessons sound fancy!
A: That isn't a question....
Q: Oops, Sorry! Ummm....will I need to cancel my cable or sell my car to afford lessons?
A: Nope! Guitar lessons cost $65 a month for a half hour lesson, or $130 a month for an hour. There are three terms, fall, winter/spring, and summer, and there are a set number of weeks in a term, with a few weeks off here and there.
Q:$65 a month? That's cheap! But wait....of course i'll have to buy method books and accessories and administrative fees...
A: nope! You pay $65 a month, and that's it! The way the terms are laid out, you pay the same every month, regardless of how many weeks there are in that month. It's convenient for you, works around your schedule, and gives you freedom to make guitar lessons work for you.
Q: that's awesome! How can I pay?
A: we prefer checks, but cash is fine, and we take credit cards as well.
Q: when is the money due?
A: by the first lesson of the month
Q: Do I need a guitar to start?
A: While you will need one for home practicing, If you are on the fence about guitar and want to try it out, Kevin has a guitar at the studio you may use while you're in you're first lesson or two, and can recommend a great guitar for you when you decide you need to play guitar!
Q: I'm sold, lets do this!....what now?
A: Call or text Kevin Farmer at 419-303-9585, or send a FB message through the studio FB page.
Q: Anything else we should know?
A: I truly believe that guitar can be for everyone, and I strive to make every lesson enjoyable and engaging. It doesn't matter what age, ability level, IQ, SAT scores, color car you drive, or how you like your eggs in the morning, if you are willing and able to learn, I can help you learn to play that guitar. So give me a shout today, and give it a try, and I look forward to speaking with you soon!
Q: thanks for your time Kevin
A: thank you!
Q: one more question!...
A: yeah...
Q: Can you teach me free bird??
A: i think we covered this already...:)
